Why?

I’m pretty sure if you said that to someone from the upper East Coast of the U.S., they’d have some colorful words and sour expressions for you. They truly are different bakery delights. BUT, they also look very similar! See the photo!?

Writers like to add silly symbolism to everything – so my mind came up with the comparison of these two with relationships. What’s the difference between a stale mediocre-tasting relationship and a delicious, sweet romance book relationship? Love!

Sorry in advance if I offend any bagel lovers :P. I mean, don’t get me wrong, they’re probably great as a breakfast bread. But, whenever I’ve had them in school, they were always hard, crumby, and really, they just tasted like… like hard, stale bread. I couldn’t understand why people were so into them and still are.

I DO love donuts, though. Not as some kind of mainstay meal, but as a treat for dessert sometimes.

But, I suppose, not all relationships start out as scrumptious, sweet donuts. They may start out as boring bagels then progress into donuts. Or, they may have been donuts and then regressed into bagels. I think that’s because they either added or removed the ingredient Love.

I’m pretty sure we’ve all read our fair share of romance books where two characters meet normally and haven’t fallen for each other. Then, they add love: one cares for the other, one does something sweet for the other… and suddenly their relationship goes from bagel to donut.

I believe we can apply the same logic to real life. Can you recall all the bagel relationships you have with people? Maybe try a science experiment and add some love and see if you can convert those to donut relationships?

Or maybe your current romantic relationship has turned bagel… couldn’t hurt to add love to see if it’ll sweeten into a donut again.

Love Is All We Have.

Good Easter, everyone!
